After a decade and half (18 yrs) rigorous struggle and effort, VITOF Nepal has being institutionalized having with its one strong wing, i.e., VITOF-Nepal Pokhara Chapter; which, I think, has come up to lead the tourism hub (Western region destinations), especially, of village tourism in Nepal in days ahead. This hypothesis (message) from my pen should not go in vain since people of Western Nepal, Pokhara and periphery, are the pioneers/explorer of rural tourism of this country. They dully deserve it. The alluring hospitality, ethnographic mosaic cultures, flora and faunas- bio diversity, natural beauties, adventurous dimensions, i.e., sky to earth, hunting nature to human civilizations, Western Nepal is a hidden treasure of tourism. The Annapurna circuit under top ten trekking routes of the world, Tilijo Lake highest in the world, the mystery lands (Manang and Mustang) beyond Himalaya, City (Pokhara) of lakes, the deepest gorge on the earth (Andhagalchhi), the birth place of Lord Buddha– Lumbini, the unexhausting cultures of janjaties and so others unfold the truth of hidden treasure. The visitor or tourist oneself can narrate and expose out the richness of the destination; I have no more to exaggerate. People of such land have come up with exploring and opening the concept of village tourism in this region. Who really they are then? They are tourism entrepreneurs, media scribes, university faculties, stakeholders of tourism, tourism businessmen who typically know Nepal and rural tourism of this region. Managers of hoteliers, travel and tour operators, tourist guiders, media men, movers and shakers of backward communities, academia and social workers have been involved in this mission– village tourism promotion forum Nepal. The synergic force of them will push the tourism potentiality of Nepal. As an alert citizen of this region, I highly encourage these people for their noble effort and wish all the success.                                                                                                                                                                                   –                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      –Prof. Dr. Prem Sharma Chief  Advisor VITOF-Nepal

I am very much delighted to know that Village Tourism Forum (VITOF) has been extending its Pokhara Chapter to explore, develop and promote our villages in the tourism market. As we know, Nepal is a mountainous country and has many villages which have tremendous potentiality for tourism. Natural attractions, cultural heritage, favourable weather and the people’s hospitality are the four main strengths in tourism that Nepalese villages have. Nepal is best known for adventure and rural tourism. Tourism plays a vital role in reducing poverty of Nepalese rural villages.
Although the tourism industry of Nepal plays a significant role in our economy and employment, we need to focus its distribution in rural areas also.
The development and implementation of a village tourism promotion policy is a significant way for Nepal to distribute the benefits to the local people. Tourism in Nepal only can be sustained if the majority of the benefits from tourist can extend to the local villages. On the one hand, we need to promote and develop our villages and at the same time it is equally important to save our nature and culture.
I am confident that VITOF Pokhara Chapter will be able to work on these issues and I am always ready to assist in the field of village tourism. I wish all the best to VITOF Pokhara.
